Born and raised, Tommy calls Tuscaloosa, Alabama his home. With an old upright piano in his home, at the age of 12 he started out 'making up songs.' Then his aunt married a man who was in a band and Tommy was hooked. "I wanted to learn to play the piano and sing." Born with music in his blood his mother played piano for their church and later Tommy began to sing solos. "My Grandfather was the preacher and he too played piano. Our family would sit around the piano with him and sing hymns."
Tommy's favorite music style is 80's rock. He was greatly influenced by Journey and describes them as, "my all time favorite because of Steve Perry. I always loved his voice and wanted to be able to sing like him." There is no denying that he accomplished that. Audience members comment often that he "sounds just like Steve Perry." He also enjoyed the music and was influenced by the bands of Styx, Boston and Kansas. "To me, those guys were way ahead of their time." he says.
There are countless other bands Tommy has played with but he describes his band, MP4, as "the best cover band going." He describes Keith, the bass player, as "edgy and a bit over the top." Ken, the drummer as, "methodical on the drums", and Tim, lead guitar as "a true rocker." His band mates fondly will call him a "Chachi" look-a-like. Vocally Tommy has a wide range of music style. He can easily transition from an upbeat rock-n-roll song to a soulful ballad. Add to that his expert keyboard skills and he has a captivated audience. And dare we say, Tommy has a special appeal to the women at the shows. Many have had to be escorted from the stage.
Tommy shares his home and his life with his daughter Alexis and is self-employed as a home remodler.
