MP4 - The Band
Tim Boykin - Lead Guitar - Backing Vocals

Tim Boykin, the newest member of MP4, joined the band in the spring of 2010 and he describes them as a "Power Rock" band. Raised an 'army brat, he has lived all over the globe but has now found his home on the Southside of Birmingham.

Tim picked up the guitar when he was 12 years old and found his inspiration from Chuck Berry. Tim says, "I wanted to play just like him, he is awesome." His other musical influences are Deep Purple, The Who, Ramones, Elvis, Beatles, Van Halen, Charlie Christian, Thelonious Monk, and Iggy & The Stooges.

A 'self-proclaimed' nerd in school, Tim and his brother started playing music around the same time. "My brother and I played in garage bands and when word got around my junior high school that I could play guitar, my social status improved quite a bit." Today, if you ask Tim what other bands he has played with, have a seat, it could take awhile. He's been on stage with Carnival Season, Replacements, Topper Price, Telluride, Shame Idols, Lolas, Kingfish, Cover Girls, Revolver, Heavy Pettin, and Delicious, to name a few of the several bands he's played with.

While very soft spoken and quiet, Tim comes alive on the stage. One of his band mates describes Tim, "He's a 'true rocker'. I like his long hair image and his onstage presence and interaction." Tim can stop the crowd when he breaks out into one of his explosive riffs, mesmerizing the audience. Tim has an undeniable passion for music and a true technical mastery of the instrument. He also lends his voice to backup vocals.

Tim shares his home with his wife Marjorie, and is a professional musician. He also teaches guitar lessons to other aspiring 'rock stars'.
